MEASURING HEAD

 M 10 SOCKET

B.R.E. type sockets and measuring heads. The M 10 wall socket and measuring head shown above are based on the so-called B. R. E. system developed in the mid-sixties at the Building Research Establishment, Watford, by John Cheney. Further details are to be found in the paper he presented to FIG Commission 6 Symposium in London in 1980 "Some Requirements and Developments in Surveying Instrumentation for Civil Engineering Monitoring---.

It should be noted that no specific dimensions are laid down for B.R.E. sockets or measuring heads, and although we offer as standard a 70mm measuring head with a 20mm ball, these can be changed to suit customer requirements. We have changed from a round to a hexagonal socket in the light of customer experiences, and our socket is a little slimmer and shorter to improve ease of installation. All parts are made of stainless steel, machined to very high tolerances

WHEN MONITORING, PLEASE REMEMBER that permanently mounted points will ALWAYS give a more accurate result than demountable ones, and usually at a fraction of the price.
