FENO SURVEY MARKERS are steel pins which are driven into the ground, and then anchored by three strong steel anchor prongs which are driven out into the surrounding ground, rather like the roots of a tree. Such permanent ground marks, or PGM's, are used to mark specific locations such as survey stations, boundary positions, or points on construction projects such as curve tangent points etc.

INSTALLATION OF THE MARKS is easy, as there is no need for either excavation, power tools or concrete. Typically the installation of a marker takes between 1 and 2 minutes. We recommend that the Polyroc heads are partially countersunk, as this increases the security and stability of the mark.

THREE STANDARD LENGTHS of marker are available, these being 350mm, 500mm or 600mm. Which length you chose will depend on the purpose of the mark, and the type of ground into which it is being driven. It should be noted that before the anchor flukes are driven out, the marker can easily be removed at any time. Therefore if you strike bed rock before the marker is fully driven, you can easily remove it and replace it with a shorter marker.

A CHOICE OF TOPS is available, in Polyroc, aluminium, steel, plastic or even granite (for the aesthetes!). Three standard colours are available in the Polyroc and the plastic, with a further choice by special order. By far the biggest seller here in the U.K. is the standard yellow Polyroc head. Please note that it is possible to place markers without heads, but in order to do so it is necessary to use a special ground plate to stabilise the marker while the anchor flukes are being driven out.

INSERTS AND ACCESSORIES are available. The inserts, either aluminium or plastic, offer the possibility of a finer reference mark than can be obtained using the steel marker alone. Also the domed aluminium insert, or the plastic one in conjunction with a 60mm domed survey nail, will give a three-dimensional mark (X, Y and Z co-ordinates).

1000mm LONG MARKERS and accessories are available. These have a thicker shaft than the standard markers, and therefore different inserts, tools and accessories. These markers are usually used for high accuracy survey markers which have to remain stable over long periods, or for monitoring stations.
